Yesterday was an emotional game for David Beckham. It was his final home match with PSG. David announced he plans to retire from soccer after this season. The PSG coach put David in the game in the 81st minute with PSG winning 3-1 against Brest, allowing David to participate and then walk off the field a winner to a standing ovation. As you can see in the gallery, David got a little teary. After the game he said:
“I want to say thank you to everybody in Paris. To my teammates, to the staff, to the fans. It’s been very special to finish my career here. It could not have been any more special.”
PSG has one more away game, but while David will travel with the team, the coach said it’s unlikely he’ll play. David’s sons came onto the field to be with their father while Victoria Beckham and Harper watched from the stands. This is the end of an era in soccer. David will still be HAWT, of course, but these are our final pictures of David steaming up a soccer field. He certainly won’t be forgotten in the sport, I’m sure.
