Tomorrow is the highly-anticipated memorial tribute for Slayer guitarst Jeff Hanneman, who died earlier this month due to liver failure.
The celebration was mildly dampened when the Westboro Baptist Church confirmed they would be protesting across the street from the memorial. We were amongst the many who assumed this is a bad recipe for a riot, as Slayer fans aren't exactly subtle. Moments ago, Slayer posted the following message, advising fans to ignore the protesters. Here's the band's message:
Want to
really piss off the Westboro Baptist Church at Jeff's Memorial
Celebration? Do exactly what Slayer members and family are going to do –
totally ignore them. They don't exist. And then come inside and
celebrate Jeff's life with us.
Makes perfect sense to us! Metal Injection has dispatched Johnny Orlando, Jr. to head down to the memorial and file a full report. We'll have video of that early next week.
